In the nineteenth century, Chateau Clinet was owned by the Constant family, who also owned Petrus.

In 1980, the new owner Jean-Michel Arcaute, helped by Michel Rolland, revolutionized this estate by applying resolutely modern techniques at the time, with green harvests, overripe harvests and the replacement of part of the Cabernet Sauvignon by Merlot.
